The first Cluster Breakfast of the year, organized in collaboration with Technopark Pomerania, is over. Like in previous years, we continue our series of meetings where we share knowledge and exchange experiences.
During Thursday’s meeting, not only was the food delicious, but the discussion was also highly informative, thanks to our guest speaker Arkadiusz Seńko – the founder of Red Sky in Szczecin, one of the oldest Polish startups and managing partner at Tar Heel Capital Pathfinder – a venture capital and venture building fund.
The central theme of the meeting was the creation and development of startups. We discussed, among other things, how involving customers (product recipients) from the very beginning of the solution development process is crucial for a startup’s success. It was also an opportunity for discussion and answers to numerous questions, including those regarding the requirements set by the Fund (e.g. the level of involvement expected from the startup founder), the amount of funding, and the scope of decision-making for the team.
Our speaker emphasized that the Fund requires full commitment from the founder and a thorough verification of the team’s readiness to continue working on the solution. He also pointed out that understanding the market and the problem to be solved is equally essential. He also noted that the Fund primarily focuses on investing in software solutions, as hardware tends to be more challenging to scale. However, he clarified that future investments in hardware are not ruled out. Apart from providing funding, the Fund also offers its extensive network of contacts to the startup without interfering in the company’s day-to-day management.
The second part of the meeting was equally engaging, with Łukasz Szeląg (the expert from PAIH) presenting interesting possibilities for expansion and promotion outside of Poland.
After the official part, our guests exchanged insights over coffee and delicious refreshments, sharing valuable perspectives and making new contacts.
We thank everyone for their participation and the stimulating discussion after the meeting.
At the next Cluster Breakfast, we will discuss the needs of IT industry and also debate the current situation.
