On October 23, the Business Environment Assessment Study (BEAS) report on the investment potential of Szczecin was premiered. Antal Poland and Cushman & Wakefield prepared the report. The Szczecin Metropolitan Development Agency (Agencja Rozwoju Metropolii Szczecińskiej sp. z o.o.) acted as the city’s project partner and, together with the report’s authors, invited the IT Cluster and other representatives of business and local institutions to participate in a discussion on the city’s and region’s development opportunities.
In the report, Szczecin achieved an overall score of 6.9/10, confirming its strong position among Polish business centers. Notably, the city was one of only nine Polish cities included in the study — a clear indication of the development and investment potential recognized by experts. Szczecin was particularly praised for its modern infrastructure and high quality of life, both of which create a solid foundation for attracting investors and top talent to the city.
Participants of the discussion panel included:
- Michał Przepiera, Deputy Mayor of Szczecin for Investments and Entrepreneurship,
- Paweł Kozłowski, President of the IT Cluster,
- Dorota Dżega-Pietruszkiewicz, representative of the West Pomeranian Business School,
- Artur Ciszczoń (Association ON.AI),
- Remigiusz Podcaba (Nemera),
- Bartłomiej Stępień (Elektryka Morska).
During the panel accompanying the report’s premiere, participants focused on Szczecin’s key strengths and challenges as an investment location. According to the speakers, the city’s undisputed advantages include its strategic geographic position, proximity to Scandinavia and Western Europe, developed transport infrastructure, and high quality of life. Combined with a rapidly growing ICT sector and strong port potential, these factors make Szczecin one of the most attractive cities for domestic and international investors. Szczecin also stands out for its collaborative spirit and openness, enabling joint efforts to achieve shared goals and foster the city’s development.
The region’s industrial potential continues to grow, especially in the offshore, marine energy, and renewable energy sectors. The speakers emphasized the importance of modern industrial clusters and expanding infrastructure to support innovative industries, while also noting the continued need for investment in industrial and office spaces.
The ICT sector and the development of artificial intelligence are significantly enhancing the city’s appeal to investors. Paweł Kozłowski, President of the West Pomeranian IT Cluster, highlighted that Szczecin’s IT companies deliver world-class solutions, and the city ranks among Poland’s leading innovation hubs. The cluster — one of the largest organizations of its kind in the country — actively supports collaboration between business, academia, and local government, helping to build a cohesive technological ecosystem for the West Pomeranian region.
Collaboration between universities, businesses, and local government plays a key role in developing human capital. Universities educate specialists and support the transfer of knowledge to industrial and technological sectors, increasing the region’s competitiveness and attracting young talent. The city and businesses must work together to retain this talent by offering attractive working conditions, professional growth opportunities, and a high quality of life.
Urban and logistics infrastructure remain among Szczecin’s main challenges. Although the city already has a solid transport and port base, the growing influx of investors calls for further action — expanding office spaces, improving urban logistics, and investing in transport networks — to effectively support the development of shared services centers and modern industries.
In conclusion, the participants emphasized that Szczecin has all the necessary assets to attract investment, but continued strategic actions are required to strengthen its competitiveness and create a cohesive, innovative economic ecosystem.
The meeting demonstrated that Szczecin possesses everything needed to attract investors, develop modern economic sectors, and combine technology with human potential. Now is the time for consistent, collaborative action.
